Mental diets.
What are they and how important are they to your manifesting success?
Most of us have heard of the term “mental diet” from Neville Goddard and from a myriad of people on all the social media platforms. Many times people give the definition of mental diet as the “ thoughts that your having throughout the day on a certain subject. “. Usually pertaining to your manifesting goal. They aren’t wrong with that assertion but they aren’t completely right either.
Most people forget that diet means intake. What a person or animal eats or “intakes” on a regular basis. So with that in mind, what most people forget about Neville’s “mental diet” is that he often always said to take in those things that are good and pure and of good report. Watch what you read, listen to or watch. Be aware of what is going into your mind. That folks is “intake”.
So how did I improve my mental diet? What did I do to make sure that what ever went into my mind was good and pure and of good report?
First off I stopped scrolling mindlessly through all the social media platforms. I used to get lost in you tube videos for hours on end. I would start looking for a certain subject and before I knew it three hours had whipped by and I accomplished absolutely nothing except to fill my mind with pure junk. I stopped that along with TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
I no longer listened to the news day in and day out and I became extremely picky on what shows I would watch if I did watch any at all. I went back to reading books that were designed to better myself, both physical books and books on tape. Audible became my best friend. I watched documentaries about quantum physics and self improvement all the time. Then when I was tired of that I would switch to documentaries about our world and planet. I became acutely aware of what was going in my mind along with what was running around in my mind.
When a negative thought would come about I simply would watch it disappear as I started to ruminate upon good thoughts that had to do with my manifestations. I would watch what my inner conversations were and if they were negative towards myself I would quickly change them to positive toward myself.
If I was arguing with someone in my inner conversations, I would quickly drop it and change the conversation to one that was wholesome, positive and lovely while also being in the end story I had created.
So you see there are really three elements to a mental diet.
One being what you take in on a regular basis. What are you reading regularly? What shows or games are you playing on a regular basis? (Don’t get me started on video games). If you’re not a video game programmer or artist making the characters or you’re not playing the games professionally then to me that has to be the largest waste of time you could ever do. You’d be better off just sleeping that entire time. At least your body is resting and rehabilitating itself at that point. Also, what is worse is, it is robbing you of your time. Social media is another big one. Why do so many people want to prove something to other people out there that don’t even matter to them? It’s like a drug. You start by posting something small and you get a few likes. Then you post something else and you get the same amount of likes but your not satisfied. You need more now just to get the same feeling you had yesterday. Then you just keep spiralling just like a drug addict. Before you know it you’re posting ten to twenty useless things on these platforms per day just to try and make yourself feel good. Stop it. You don’t need those people’s approval. Just your own.
I just heard the other day that TikTok is used differently in China, where it was developed, than it is every where else. In China it was said that it is used for the betterment of it’s children while every where else it’s designed to become addictive with nothing but pure garbage made to turn our minds to mush. Unfortunately for many of us it’s working.
I can’t tell you how freeing I felt when I dropped all those platforms. I freed up hours each day by just dropping those and became so much more productive. Some of my current clients will attest to that as well. Stop being a slave to what you think others are thinking about you. It doesn’t matter. As long as you have them thinking of you the way you want them to in your imagination it doesn’t matter what they think in the current physical world because it’s going to change.
The next element of your mental diet is the thoughts you’re having about certain circumstances and the meanings we apply to them.
Most of us place way too many “definite “ meanings to things that aren’t true and then by placing those false meanings to them they manifest into the exact circumstances you feared about. When you start to have those thoughts you need to just turn away from them like Neville says to do and then change that thought to one that is beneficial to your fulfilled desires. Have some anchor thoughts that you can go to quickly when those undesirable thoughts come knocking on your noggin.
And the third and possibly the most destructive and most advantageous are the internal conversations that you have each and every day.
We all have them. You know the ones. You see that person who just drives you crazy and soon enough you’re having a full scale argument with them in your head. You’re dreading waking up because you know your mom is going to yell at you for something and now you’re playing the entire conversation out in your head without one audible word being spoken.
Turn from those undesirable conversations and quickly change them to what you want to hear. Feel it in your soul. Hear the words that each of you are saying. Apply as many of your senses as you can in those conversations and repeat the new conversations over and over again. Repeat them until they feel real to you.
Mental diets. We all have them. Now we just need to be aware of them and make them work for us.
Nurture the environment for which your mental diet resides. Read something uplifting and beneficial to you. Listen to upbeat music that puts you in a good mood and change your inner thoughts and conversations to those that will change your life for the better.
You’ve got this. Anthony.
